Originally from Ecuador, Jonathan Yanez is the CEO of the Ecuadorian Coffee Company and its American partner Aligned Coffee USA. Jonathan was working as a professional Chef and Culinary Techniques instructor, before discovering the Specialty Coffee Industry during one trip to Costa Rica a few years ago, where he experienced a Barista Competition for the first time. His passion for coffee has taken him to travel and live in different countries of America and Europe, learning, sharing, and serving his community as a Food & Beverage Manager, Coffee Consultant, and Barista Trainer. He has experienced the Coffee Championships from different perspectives, as a competitor and judge in the national level, to volunteer in some of the World Championships.
He wants to become a SCA AST, and a Certified Judge at the World Level, to be able to help his country to organize more categories of the Coffee Championships, and to encourage and support the new coffee professionals, based on a world standardized education.
