January 28-29, 2023
We are excited to announce the date and location of the first of two 2023 US Coffee Championship Qualifying events! There will be two qualifying events for all six competitions this season, taking place in the East Coast and Mountain Regions. The 2023 U.S. Barista, Brewers Cup, Cup Tasters, Coffee in Good Spirits, Roaster and Latte Art Qualifier 1 Event will take place January 28-29, 2023 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Date and Location for the Mountain Region Qualifying Event will be announced by end of 2022.
The top ranking competitors from each qualifier will compete in the US National Coffee Championships in Portland OR, April 21-23 2023. You do not need to compete in both qualifier locations to progress to the National Competition.

How Do I Register to Compete in Baltimore?
This year, to strike a balance and offer the best opportunity to all competitors, there will be a hybrid method of registration for competition spots at the qualifying events. For four events (USBrC, USRC, USBC, and USCIGS), 50% of the available registration spots will be selected by a weighted lottery and the remaining 50% of spots will be available during an open registration period.

Competitors who are interested in competing in one of these events may select their preferred method of registration. If they wish to participate in the lottery, they may submit an application. Following the same protocol as last year, a random drawing will take place and the selected competitors will be notified by e-mail. Each competitor will be given a registration code following their selection. Lottery selection will take place 1-2 weeks prior to open registration. The remaining spots for each competition (including any spots that are left unclaimed by lottery recipients) will be available at a set time for online registration.

Baltimore Qualifiers Registration Timeline

November 30 to December 7: Lottery Nominations Open
December 8: Lottery selection takes place.
December 9: Lottery Selections are notified and asked to confirm participation.
December 14: Lottery selected competitor confirmation deadline.
December 15 to 22: Open Registration for remaining spots to compete in Baltimore.
