Community Driven Events
We are pleased to announce the U.S. CoffeeChamps Preliminaries! The Preliminaries will be Community Driven Events – fun, low-cost competitions at the local level.
Making Competitions More Accessible
U.S. CoffeeChamps Preliminary competitions are events that allow community members the chance to host an official competition. These events can be strictly competition-based, or make it your own by adding fun and interactive elements – including Latte Art Throwdowns, parties, and more! – for your community to enjoy!
For Barista competitors all wares, equipment, and coffee will be provided. Competitors may bring their own wares, if they would like, but this is not required. Competitors are required to use a Host-provided coffee.
Equipment and coffee will be provided for Brewers Cup competitors. Hosts will have a small variety of manual brewing devices, filter media, and kettle(s), if competitors would like something specific they will need to bring their own. Brewers may bring their own brewing equipment, if they prefer, but this is not required. Competitors are required to use the Host-provided coffee(s).
Coffee in Good Spirits competitors will have equipment, alcohol, and coffee provided for them. Hosts will have a small variety of manual brewing devices, filter media, and kettle(s), if competitors would like something specific they will need to bring their own. Competitors may bring their own wares, if they prefer, but this is not required. Competitors are required to use the Host-provided coffee(s). The required alcohol(s) for the competition will be provided by the Host, any additional alcohol or beverage ingredients will need to be provided by the competitor.
Cup Tasters competitors only need to bring their palate! Cupping spoons are provided by the Host.
Green coffee will be given to Roaster competitors 2-3 weeks prior to their Prelim. Competitors can pick up their green coffee in person or Hosts will ship it to competitors. Competitors will roast the coffee and bring it with them for the competition weekend. All cupping/tasting equipment will be supplied by the Host!
Online Learning Sessions
The Online Learning Sessions are for competitors and judges who are participating in the Preliminaries. The U.S. Competitions Committees will go over the Rules & Regulations, highlighting any Rules changes. It’s highly recommended for all competitors and judges to attend or watch a recording.

Top 3 Tasters from each of the Preliminaries will get a guaranteed spot at their choice of the U.S. CoffeeChamps Qualifying Competitions
Remaining spots at the 2020 U.S. CoffeeChamps Qualifying Competitions will be Open Registration.
*Cup Tasters competitors only need to bring their pallette! Cupping spoons are provided by the Host.

Competitors submit 2lbs of their roasted compulsory coffee

1 Scoring Head Judge
Top 3 Roasters from each of the Preliminaries will get a guaranteed spot at their choice of the U.S. CoffeeChamps Qualifying Competitions
Remaining spots at the 2020 U.S. CoffeeChamps Qualifying Competitions will be Open Registration.
